An Interactive Love Letter to Music, Discovery & Crate Digging
Rico’s Vinyl Quest is an independently developed, music-driven pixel-art adventure game where the
search for music becomes the game itself.

Set in a stylized version of Burlington, Vermont, players explore a living neighborhood filled with record
stores, businesses, clubs, studios, characters, and hidden discoveries.  The mission is simple: dig deeper,
find rare records, and uncover the sounds that make the world come alive.

At the heart of the game is crate digging—the art of searching through overlooked records in hopes of
finding that perfect drum break, bassline, horn, vocal, melody, or forgotten gem.  Rather than treating
music as background decoration, Rico’s Vinyl Quest makes music discovery part of the gameplay.  Players
collect individual musical elements and gradually build a larger sonic collection through exploration.

The world also features a variety of arcade-style games and interactive music experiences, including crate
digging, beat matching, darts, speed challenges, pizza building, claw machines, beatmaking, and freestyle
DJ scratching.  Together, these activities turn the game into a place to explore, experiment, play, and
create.

Visually, Rico’s Vinyl Quest combines a handmade retro pixel-art aesthetic with modern accessibility.  The
game is designed to scale across desktop and mobile devices, with responsive presentation and touch
controls.

More importantly, the project is built to grow.  Its underlying systems support expandable worlds,
collectible music, characters, mini-games, and interactive experiences, allowing future locations to
introduce new communities, musical cultures, stories, and sounds.

The long-term vision extends beyond traditional entertainment. Rico’s Vinyl Quest can become an interactive introduction to music production, sampling, beatmaking, DJ culture, and creative technology—giving players opportunities to discover musical concepts through gameplay and eventually
apply them using real-world music tools and production software.

In a culture increasingly built around instant access and algorithmically selected experiences, Rico’s Vinyl
